KENTUCKY (3/5/12) – For the month of February 2012, Post 2 reports the following activity:
*Arrested 46 Impaired Drivers
*Issued a Total of 2,218 Citations
*Issued 632 Speeding Citations
*Issued 122 Seat Belt Citations
*Issued 24 Child Restraint Citations
*Issued 664 Courtesy Notices
*Investigated 56 Traffic Crashes
*Assisted 162 Stranded Motorists
*Responded to 816 Calls for Service
*Opened 43 Criminal Cases
*Made 607 Criminal Arrests
*There were no fatal crashes reported in the Post 2 District in February 2012.
Through February 29, 2012, there have been three fatal crashes that resulted in the loss of three lives reported in the Post 2 District. Two victims were not wearing a seatbelt and one victim was wearing a seatbelt.
Through February 28, 2011, two people had been killed in two crashes in the Post 2 District.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers may remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel, and license number if possible.
Throughout the month, troopers from the Madisonville Kentucky State Police Post will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 2 District. At these checkpoints, troopers will be targeting impaired drivers, checking for properly restrained adults and children and observing for any other violations. Post 2 serves the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster.
**These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
