FRANKFORT, KY (3/26/12) – It’s the time of year when you’re itching to get outside and take in the beauty of nature in the Bluegrass State.
To help you find places to enjoy the bountiful wild blooms and other flowering foliage, the Kentucky Departments of Travel and Parks are again sponsoring the “Unbridled Spring” program.
The main feature of the program, which runs through mid-May, is a website that includes reports from parks across the state – updated weekly – to guide you to locations where the blooms are most beautiful. Visit www.kentuckytourism.com and click on the Unbridled Spring icon.
At the click of a mouse, the website also features a calendar of events for springtime activities, a location map for state parks and a kids’ page with coloring blocks and word games.
Previously called Wildflower Watch, Unbridled Spring has developed a well-deserved reputation for guiding travelers to a beautiful time in Kentucky. The aim is to entice Kentuckians and visitors alike to travel the state and watch spring return to the Commonwealth’s very distinct landscapes.
Travelers are encouraged to add to the website by sharing their own digital photos of buds and blooms.
Information on specific events at Kentucky State Parks is available at www.parks.ky.gov. For more Kentucky tourism information, visit www.kentuckytourism.com.
