KENTUCKY (3/29/12) - S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy and Power, was awarded the third annual John D. Dingell award by the National Labor and Management Public Affairs Committee (LAMPAC) at a reception on March 21.
The award is given to Members of Congress who represent objective and bipartisan commitment to the mutual goals of the electric power industry and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) was also named as a recipient of the award at the same event.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this distinguished award,” Whitfield said. “To be recognized for my work on energy issues and the ability to work with all of my colleagues is a great honor. Rep. Dingell is not just a friend, he has been an outstanding public official, and his work on the Energy and Commerce Committee for so many years is a testament to his wisdom and leadership. Rep. Hoyer is also a friend and someone who is fair and respectful of all views. I have greatly enjoyed working with both men during my time in Congress.”
The John D. Dingell award is named after Representative John Dingell (D-MI), the most senior member of the House of Representatives, and former Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
