FRANKFORT, KY (11/7/12) – Division of Probation and Parole Director Tim Carman today announced the promotion of Charece Brown to the position of assistant supervisor of District 9, which covers all of Fayette County. District 9 has a total of 46 officers and investigators and supervises approximately 2,700 offenders. Brown assumed her new duties Nov. 1.
 
“Charece has exhibited the initiative and dedication to be a valuable addition to the leadership team in District 9,” said Carman. “Her concern for re-entry has impressed me. I am pleased to have the opportunity to promote a person with both proven dedication and a high level of concern for quality work.”
 
Brown began her career with the Division of Probation and Parole as an officer in District 9 on Aug. 1, 2006. In September 2010, she began to supervise a specialized caseload after being assigned the Chrysalis House, a long-term, in-patient treatment facility for women and their children. Brown also serves as a re-entry liaison for District 9 and as such has spearheaded the recent re-entry focus in the district.
 
Prior to her Department of Corrections employment, Brown spent four years as a deputy jailer at the Woodford County Detention Center and one year as a deputy sheriff for the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office.
 
Brown is a 2000 graduate of Kentucky State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
 
Brown is a lifetime resident of Versailles where she lives with her two children, Kendrick and Karigan.
