LOUISVILLE, Ky. (2/11/13) - High school students who are active in their Kentucky Baptist churches’ music ministries are invited to audition for the 25th Kentucky Baptist All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra by March 1.
The group, comprised of students from across the commonwealth, gathers annually for a summer music retreat followed by a tour.
“In addition to the usual group of talented students, we will be inviting choir and orchestra alumni to participate,” said Jason Stewart, worship/music consultant for the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
Students in grades 9-12 who were previously accepted into the group do not need to re-audition.
This year’s choir conductors are Mickey and Sue Ellen Ballard. Scott Bersaglia will conduct the orchestra.
Mickey Ballard is minister of music and worship at Central Baptist Church in Paris. His wife, Sue Ellen, is the church organist. Bersaglia is director of bands for Pikeville High School.
This year’s retreat and tour is June 16-23. The tour begins at Campbellsville University and concludes June 23 at First Baptist Church of Bowling Green. All concerts are free.
Details on audition requirements, the retreat and the tour can be found at www.kybaptist.org/asyco.
