FRANKFORT, Ky. (3/12/13) – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, today announced that Philip Crawford of Auburn and Hardin Cosner of Benton have both received offers of appointment to the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. As part of the requirements for appointment, Whitfield provided Congressional Nominations for both candidates.
“It is my honor to nominate these two outstanding individuals for appointments to West Point,” stated Whitfield. “As these two young men now prepare to begin their promising careers serving their country, I am confident that they will represent the Commonwealth with diligence, honor and class. I couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Crawford and Mr. Cosner and I wish them well.”
Philip Crawford will graduate from Russellville High School this May. He currently holds a 4.0 grade point average. His accomplishments include being a 2012 member of the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program 2012; serving as the Field Commander of Russellville High Marching Band; competing on the Russellville High Tennis Team; and serving as a Group Leader at Pearce Memorial United Methodist Church. He is the son of Darrell and Anne Crawford.
Hardin Cosner will graduate from Marshall County High School this May. He currently holds a 3.92 grade point average. His accomplishments include obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America where he was awarded the Boy Scout Life Saving Award; competing on the Marshall County High School football and track teams, and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Marshall Militia. He is the son of Scott and Christa Cosner.
