The competition will be held in Washington D.C., on the campus of George Mason University, June 21-25, 2013. This event is sponsored by the Air Force JROTC and conducted by College Options Foundation.
The Apollo High School Air Force JROTC team earned top scores out of the over 260 teams that competed from around the world to win a place in the finals, which includes an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. In the two fast-paced rounds of online competition, students were tested on their knowledge of JROTC curriculum, English, Math and Science, using SAT/ACT-type questions. One of the main goals of the JROTC Academic Bowl is to prepare students for state exit/graduation exams as well as college entrance exams, such as the SAT and ACT. The team is one of only sixteen Air Force JROTC teams from across the country to advance to the finals.
The winner of the Air Force JROTC Academic Championship will compete against the winners of the Army, Marine Corps and Navy JROTC Academic Bowls in the JROTC Joint Service Academic Bowl Championship.
