FRANKFORT, Ky. (3/19/13) – Kayak fishing has been growing in popularity over recent years and a new fishing group in central Kentucky is bringing a great lineup of tournaments to the region.
The Bluegrass Yakmasters are set to begin their inaugural tournament season this April. They will host their first Open Tournament, sponsored by Bank of Lexington, on Saturday, April 6, at Cedar Creek Lake in Stanford.
The Open Tournament is open to anyone. The entry fee is $40 and anglers must fish from a kayak or canoe. The Open is a 100-percent payback tournament, and there are other prize packages from Hook1 Kayak Fishing Gear, NRS, Cabin Creek Baits and Power Team Lures.
There will be a raffle for a new fishing kayak. Bluegrass Yakmasters tournaments are catch-photo-release style tournaments, with the three longest black bass counting towards your tournament total. The Quality Inn in Danville is the official hotel for the Open Tournament and there are special rates for participants. Learn more about the Bluegrass Yakmasters by visiting their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/bluegrassyakmasters.
Cedar Creek Lake is a 784-acre trophy largemouth bass lake managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Field & Stream magazine recently ranked it as the 30th best bass lake in the country.
