RICHMOND, Ky. (4/12/13) – Fort Boonesborough State Park will host its “Women on the Frontier” weekend April 20-21.
Guests will enjoy a weekend of learning and sharing frontier survival skills and hands-on participation in routine and vital tasks experienced and performed by pioneer women.
Programs will include making flour from acorns, starting a fire with flint and steel, plant lore and gardening, spinning and weaving, 18th-century sewing and more. Concessions will be available.

The weekend events will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are free with paid admission to Fort Boonesborough.
In addition to the reconstructed fort, the park also has a campground, hiking trails, the Kentucky River Museum, mini-golf, picnic shelters and a gift shop. Fort Boonesborough is located near Richmond. From Interstate 75, take Exit 95 to KY 627. On I-64, exit at Winchester to KY 627. For more information, call 859-527-3131.
