sauce boss 2

GREENVILLE, Ky. (8/5/13) – The Muhlenberg Career Development Center (MCDC) COTS (Champions of the Staff) Committee hosted a staff BBQ picnic on July 26, 2013. The BBQ meal was catered, and serious staff BBQ enthusiasts had the opportunity to show off their skills by participating in a “BBQ Sauce-Off” competition.

The committee received seventeen sauce entries for the competition. Judges from the community, Nolyn Fueller, Trey Henson and Nick Sparks, had a hard time choosing the best sauce of the day, but after many taste tests the results came in as follows: 3rd Place – Scottie Brooks, CDL Instructor with the sauce titled “buck knob edge”, 2nd Place –Allen Vincent, CTR Specialist with the sauce titled “give me the jitters,” and the 2013 MCDC Sauce Boss Champion was Mathew Osborne, Career Counselor, with the winning sauce titled “Pass the Sauce.”

MCDC did have a finalist to come in last place, Mr. Allen Abey, Director of Training, with the dreadful tasting sauce called “you don’t wanta know.” He didn’t walk away empty-handed; he was awarded a certificate of participation and a stick.

“The Muhlenberg COTS Committee is a great group of staff who are always willing to pull together to do what it takes to help each other out and to ensure we provide a work environment that everyone will enjoy,” said Business Community Liaison Karen Robinson. “The Center would like to thank the judges for taking the time out of their busy schedules to judge our very first sauce-off competition.”
