FRANKFORT, KY (1/18/12) – Danny Ford, R-Mount Vernon, now serving in his 31st year in the Kentucky House of Representatives, is announcing his retirement.
Mr. Ford is the longest serving representative in Republican Party since 1900. During his tenure he has played integral roles in helping establish the Kentucky Music Museum and Hall of Fame; worked to upgrade Highways 27, 150 and 461; worked to upgrade and improve school facilities; and assisted in bringing public water service to over 96% of the 80th legislative district that currently includes Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties, and a portion of Pulaski County.
During his years in the House of Representatives he has been honored as National Republican Legislator of the Year and served as the Minority Whip in 1993-1994, and the Minority Floor Leader from 1995-2000, and is currently the Minority Whip.
Ford will retire at the end of his term which ends December 31st and plans to continue his work with the family Real Estate and Auction Company and spend more time with his family.
