MURRAY, KY (4/6/12) - Janette Perkins, a resident of Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Murray, Ky., will soon be celebrating her 100th birthday.
Born on April 22, 1912 in Springfield, Tenn., she later married the late Herman Efton Perkins. They had one son. Her occupations included factory work, making parts for Ford cars, and working as a nurse’s aide in Tennessee and at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Her past interests and hobbies were cooking, crocheting, gardening, reading, going to church, watching TV, fishing and playing high school basketball. She had a special interest in growing a large strawberry patch, an apple orchard, okra and sweet potatoes.
Perkins said her secret to longevity is “God. I did a lot of studying the bible and scripture.”
