MURRAY, KY (4/27/12) - 2012 Boston Marathon winner Wesley Korir will be in Murray, Ky. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 for a promotional event with the Murray Half Marathon and Murray-Calloway Endowment for Healthcare.
Korir, who is a two-time winner of the L.A. Marathon, attended Murray State University his freshman year on a track scholarship, winning three OVC titles before transferring to the University of Louisville when the men’s track program at MSU was cut. On Monday, April 16, 2012, he overtook the lead runner within the final mile to win the 116th Boston Marathon.
Korir will begin the conference by formally opening the registration for the 2013 Murray Half Marathon as the first registered runner. After a photo opportunity with Keith Travis, vice president of the Murray-Calloway Endowment for Healthcare, Korir will discuss his Kenyan Kids Foundation and its mission to provide education, health care and farming opportunities to children in Kenya. He will then take questions from the media.
