CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (6/25/12) – The Calloway County High School FFA Chapter qualified a record 20 students for state competition during this past school year, and had 16 students attend the Kentucky State FFA Convention in Lexington during the week of June 11, 2012.
The Chapter placed 1st in the Chapter Meeting Team (Parliamentary Procedure) Contest, and will compete at the National FFA Convention in October. Team members for the event were Jay Green, Morgan Hillman, Jacob Reynolds, Hugh Paschall, Megan Harper, Travis Palmer, Christina Bailey, Ian Umstead, Caleb Brannon, and Erica Rogers.
The Chapter placed 1st in the Ag Sales Contest for the 1st time in school history, and will compete at the National FFA Convention as well. Team members were Rachel Ross (1st place individual), Blake Wetherington, Jay Green, and Hugh Paschall.

Perhaps the highlight of the Convention for the Calloway County FFA was seeing Chapter President Jay Green selected as a top five candidate for State Star Farmer Award! Jay also received 2 $1000 scholarships, one for being a State Star Farmer Candidate and another from Archer Daniels Midland Corporation awarding students for both academic and extra-curricular success.
The Chapter received its 8th consecutive Gold Chapter Rating for involvement and received recognition for taking part in the FFA Day of Service and the Support our Troops Campaign.
