CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (7/20/12) – The Murray State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) recently received full accreditation from the Association of Small Business Development Centers, according to Chris Wooldridge, the program’s district director.
In December 2011, the Murray State SBDC participated in the statewide accreditation process through its membership in the Kentucky Small Business Development Center network.
The accreditation process includes reviewing the programs, facilities, services, outreach, partnerships and community involvement. “We are very happy to have received this accreditation as it reaffirms our program’s mission which is to provide hands-on, in-depth and high-quality planning, consulting and training services to pre-existing and existing small business entrepreneurs,” Wooldridge said.
The Murray State SBDC is an outreach program for the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business and is funded in part by the United States Small Business Administration.
Wooldridge said the Murray State SBDC is entering its 30thyear of existence and looks forward to continuing to serve the region.
“In addition to our office located in the Regional Business and Innovation Center, we have offices in Paducah, Owensboro and Hopkinsville. This allows us to bring services and the resources of Murray State University and those of our KSBDC network affiliates to the small business owners within the footprint of Murray State University. This is in keeping with the vision of President Randy Dunn in being active and reaching out to our region’s communities,” Wooldridge added.
Dr. Tim Todd, dean of the college of business, said, “The SBDC serves as a key outreach arm of the university and the college, helping small businesses succeed, adding jobs to the region and enhancing the quality of life. We are proud of the successes and equally proud of this reaffirmation of accreditation.”
