MURRAY, Ky. — Murray State University will be celebrating its 2012 Homecoming Oct. 12-13. One of the event’s special traditions is the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King.
Students selected for this year’s Homecoming Court include Aimee Beasley, Shelby Blalock, Rachel Dismukes, Madison Lane, Kate Withrow, Alex Adams, Luis Aponte, Kenton Coffman, Adam David and Michael Dobbs.
Aimee Beasley is the daughter of Kevin and Jeni Beasley of Paducah, Ky. She is a senior business management/entrepreneurship major. Beasley is active in USTA women’s doubles tennis, USTA mixed doubles tennis and is the USTA state mixed doubles champion. A Dean’s List student, Beasley was in the 2012 Miss Murray State Scholarship Pageant and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma honor society.
Shelby Blalock is the daughter of Dr. Richard Blalock and Darlene Compton of Murray, Ky. She is a senior biology/pre-pharmacy major. Blalock’s activities include Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and the Pre-Health Professionals Club. A Dean’s List student, she is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Chi, Hester College, Tri-Beta Biological and National Society of Collegiate Scholars honor societies.
Rachel Dismukes is the daughter of Sandy and Sumner Dismukes of St. Charles, Mo. She is a senior special education/elementary education major. A member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, Dismukes is also active in the student ambassadors, the MSU Student Alumni Association and the Murray Dance Company. A Dean’s List student, her honors include MSU Volunteer of the Year 2012 Award and a TEACH Grant for four years.
Madison Lane is the daughter of Mike and Anita Lane of Trezevant, Tenn. She is a senior Spanish education major. Lane is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and is a summer orientation counselor and a student ambassador. She serves as a math tutor in the elementary schools, is a Racer 101 counselor, is a member of the MSU Judicial Board and is on the Dean’s List.
Kate Withrow is the daughter of Bob and Denise Withrow of Springfield, Ill. She is a senior exercise science/pre-physical therapy major. She is active in the MSU Student Alumni Association, the Student Alumni Board and a member of the Board of Governors. A Dean’s List student, Withrow is a summer orientation counselor, a Racer 101 counselor, a Campus Recreation supervisor and a volunteer with MSU’s “Get up and Go!” program for elementary children.
Alex Adams is the son of Duane and Kathy Adams of Murray, Ky. He is a senior biology/pre-medicine major. His campus activities include Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, the Pre-Health Professional Club, the Wildlife and Fisheries Society and Ducks Unlimited Club. A Dean’s List student, Adams also participates in the Student Government Association and is a member of Gamma Beta Phi, Tri-Beta Biological and the Order of Omega honor societies.
Luis Aponte is the son of Luis Aponte Sr. and Myriam Aponte of Clarksville, Tenn. He is a senior organizational communications major. His activities include Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, the Student Government Association, and the MSU Student Alumni Board and Student Alumni Association. Aponte has been on the Dean’s List for several semesters and works with the student ambassadors and Campus Outreach Ministry.
Kenton Coffman is the son of Kent Coffman and Mary Beth Coffman of Ballwin, Mo. He is a senior business administration major. Coffman is a fitness instructor at the MSU Wellness Center, a cadet with the MSU ROTC and the U.S. Army National Guard. Coffman’s activities include Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and an internship with Merrill Lynch in Bend, Ore. He is on the Dean’s List.
Adam David is the son of Mike and Betsy David of Franklin, Ind. He is a senior economics major. A Dean’s List student, David is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars honor societies. He is active in Sigma Pi fraternity, is a student ambassador, and a member of the MSU Judicial Board and the MSU Mock Trial Team.
Michael Dobbs is the son of Mary Ellen and Tom Hunter, and David Dobbs of Winchester, Ky. He is a sophomore agriculture business major. A member of the Dean’s List, Dobbs is active in the Student Government Association, the MSU Honors Program, the Racer Band and the Agriculture Business Club. He is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and is on the Hutson School of Agriculture Judicial Board.
The 2012 Homecoming Queen and King will be announced during pre-game festivities in Roy Stewart Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2:30 p.m.
