MURRAY, KY (11/12/12) – On Saturday, November 10, Murray Police Officer Sam Bierds arrested Jason Byerly, 29, of Murray, charging him with two counts of 2nd degree burglary, receiving stolen property u/$500, possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, and possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree.
At about 1:30 PM, Murray Police Officers responded to a burglary in progress call at a residence on Sycamore Street. The homeowner reported that she had discovered a burglar in her home. Officer Bierds located Byerly about two blocks away. Byerly was found to be in possession of items stolen from the residence on Sycamore, items that had been shoplifted from a local business, items stolen from another residence on Whitnell, six Hydrocodone pills, and three Alprazolam pills.
Byerly was tied to the second burglary on Whitnell when some of the stolen items he was in possession of couldn’t be accounted for. One of the stolen items contained the victim’s name. The victim was out of town at the time but a check of his residence on Whitnell lead to the discovery that it had been burglarized.
Byerly is currently lodged in the Calloway County Jail awaiting trial.
