CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (8/27/13) – The Calloway County School District will soon begin using their SchoolMessenger notification service to send important information to families through both phone calls and text messages.
To comply with wireless carrier requirements and protect against unsolicited text messages, parents and guardians who have shared cell phone numbers with their school will receive an SMS text message requesting that they opt in to receive information from the district via text. The message will be sent August 28, 2013. If you do not receive an opt-in message, your child’s school does not yet have a wireless cell phone number entered into the message system. Please note that at the beginning of each school year contact information is being entered manually at each school site, therefore you may receive a message later than August 28, 2013.
The message you receive will be similar to the following:
"Calloway County Sch District alerts. Reply Y for aprx 5 msgs/mo. Txt HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. Visit schoolmessenger.com/tm"
So that you can receive these important texts from your student’s school district, we encourage you to reply with "Y" or "Yes" or "OPTIN" when you receive such a verification message.
To opt out of all text messages from SchoolMessenger, visit http://www.schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg/ or reply with STOP to the opt-in message that you receive. If you opt in, but decide to opt out later on, you may also reply "STOP" to any message or send "STOP" to 68453.
Text messages will not be used on repeating broadcasts such as ‘Attendance Calls’ and ‘Negative Food Service Balance’ notifications.
The school district does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.
