CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (9/20/13) – Cody Bergman is the Calloway County High School Rotary Club Student of the Month for September, 2013. He is the son of Cindy and Lyle Bergman and the grandson of Sadie and Daymond Carson, Hilda Bergman and the late Emmett Bergman. Cody was recognized and made comments on September 19, 2013 during the club meeting at Pagliai’s restaurant.
During his years as a student of Calloway County High School, Bergman has been a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Beta Club, National Science Honor Society, Lakers for Christ, Student Government Association representative, and the Laker Legion Pep Club. As a senior, Cody has a 4.0 GPA while challenging himself with numerous Accelerated, Honors, and Advance Placement courses, as well as college classes offered through the Racer Academy program. Bergman scored a 34 on the ACT, ranked in the 98th percentile on the PSAT, and was in the 97th percentile on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) career exploration scores. Additionally, Cody has had commendable or perfect school attendance for three consecutive years and has volunteered in the community at Needline and the Calloway County School District elementary schools.
As a member of the Academic Team, Cody has competed at district schools for eight years with his most recent CCHS team winning district and regional championships. Along the way as an academic team participant, Bergman placed 2nd in the state on the fine arts written assessment and was a member of the Quick Recall team that placed 4th in the state at the state finals.
Cody Bergman is an active member at West Fork Baptist Church and attends youth group activities at Hardin Baptist Church. He has many hobbies and interests which include fishing, photography, and playing disc golf and table tennis. After high school Cody plans on attending Murray State University with a high level interest in pursuing chemistry as a major. After undergraduate and graduate work he plans on exploring opportunities in the field of biochemistry.
