KY American Seed Damaged by Fire

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (1/30/12) – A local Hopkinsville business has sustained damage due to a weekend fire. Kentucky American Seed on Means Avenue was the site of the blaze which occurred late Saturday night.

According to the fire report, Hopkinsville firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 205 Means Avenue just after 11 p.m. Saturday. Several units were listed as responding to the fire which began in a records storage room on the property.

While the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, the report states that the floor covering in the storage room was the location of first ignition. No one was reported injured during the incident.

The fire report estimates property damage at $50,000 and contents loss at $10,000. Fire personnel were on the scene for approximately three hours. They assisted owner Charles Petty in securing the property before departing.
