juvenile arrested 300HOPKINSVILLE, KY (2/1/12) – A Hopkinsville juvenile has been taken into custody following an incident at 305 South McPherson Avenue. Hopkinsville Police responded to a call shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday that a burglary was in progress at the South McPherson address.

Upon arrival, 21-year-old Lisa Smith told police she heard someone in her home while she was in bed. Smith reported that a black male came into her bedroom. She said she was afraid for the safety of her children, so she pulled out a gun and shot at the suspect.

The juvenile then left the area only to be picked up by police later. Smith was able to positively identify the suspect as the one who had been in her home. No injuries were listed on the police report.

The suspect was taken into custody around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday and charged with 2nd degree burglary. He has since been transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Paducah.
