Tip Leads to Arrest of Max Fuel Robbery Suspect

ARRESTED robberHOPKINSVILLE, KY (2/27/12) – The man suspected in the January 3 robbing of Max Fuel on the Fort Campbell Boulevard is now in custody. 24-year-old Uwa Ken Jesuorobo of Tampa, Florida was arrested Friday in Tampa.

Jesuorobo has been charged with 1st degree robbery and 1st degree criminal mischief on the strength of a warrant taken out by Hopkinsville Police Detective Scott Raup. Jesuorobo is currently lodged in the Hillsborough County Jail in Tampa. Once he signs a waiver of extradition, Jesuorobo will be brought back to Hopkinsville.

Jesuorobo is suspected of entering the Max Fuel at 4124 Fort Campbell Boulevard on January 3 around 2 a.m. He allegedly threatened to use a machete while demanding money from the clerk. He destroyed the store’s surveillance video equipment and then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Hopkinsville Police Public Information Officer Paul Ray, the arrest was made possible by an anonymous tip called into the Hopkinsville-Christian County Crime Stoppers. Ray commented on why the tip was so valuable in this case, “It was the best thing that could have happened for us. With him living in Florida and us not having good video surveillance of him because he destroyed the store’s video equipment, it was going to be next to impossible for us to find the person that committed this robbery.”
