HOPKINSVILLE, KY (2/29/12) – Senator Joey Pendleton, D-Hopkinsville, was the recipient of the 2011 Legislator of the Year Award by The Sportsmen’s & Animal Owners’ Voting Alliance (SAOVA).
“It is a great honor to receive this award,” said Senator Pendleton. “Protecting the rights of both sportsmen and animal owners is vital to the well-being of people and animals alike.”
SAOVA is a nationwide, nonpartisan group of volunteers who seek to elect politicians who are in opposition to the “Animal Rightist” (AR) movement. It is the only national group that protects both the rights of sportsmen and animal owners. The members of SAOVA hunt, fish, and own pets and livestock. Politicians’ voting records are reviewed by SAOVA every time they run for public office to determine where they stand in regards to the AR movement. Legislators who consistently vote in favor of sportsmen and animal owners are endorsed by SAOVA.
“I’ve always been a firm supporter of both people and animals,” Senator Pendleton said. “I am honored to be endorsed by an organization such as SAOVA that works in the interest of everyone.”
Senator Pendleton represents the 3rd district that includes Christian, Logan and Todd counties.
