HOPKINSVILLE, KY (3/9/12) – The Board of Directors of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Economic Development Council (EDC) announced today that they have selected Mitch Robinson, CEcD as the organization’s new Executive Director beginning April 2, 2012
Robinson, a native Kentuckian, brings to Hopkinsville-Christian County more than twenty-five years of comprehensive executive experience in economic and community development. He joins the EDC following 18 years as Executive Director of the Cape Girardeau Area MAGNET. During his time at MAGNET, his efforts resulted in the creation of more than 3,000 new jobs and the industry retention of over 1,000 jobs.
“We enthusiastically welcome Mitch to Hopkinsville-Christian County,” stated EDC Chair Eston Glover. “After conducting an extensive search process, the committee determined that Mr. Robinson has the skill set and experience we are looking for in leading the economic development efforts of our community. With this hire and the strong support of current staff, we are well positioned to promote this community as our existing industries choose to grow, and as new industries see this region as a great opportunity for their new plants.”
During his career, Robinson also has held positions with the Henderson Economic Development Council, Ohio County Industrial Foundation and with the Purchase Area Development District. His education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Economics from Western Kentucky University, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Indiana State University. He is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute from the University of Oklahoma and is an IEDC Certified Economic Developer.
