KY Labor Cabinet 300FRANKFORT, Ky. (4/19/13) – AGC Automotive Americas, whose employees have worked in excess of 1.9 million hours without a “lost-time” injury or illness, today was presented with a Governor’s Safety and Health Award.
 
Mark Brown, secretary of the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, presented the award to company officials during a ceremony at the Elizabethtown facility.
 
“The Labor Cabinet recognizes employers who operate exemplary safety and health management systems and are committed to making safety for employees a priority,” said Secretary Brown during today’s award ceremony. “Creating a culture of a safe work environment and seeking the best methods of worker safety and health are important tasks.”
 
AGC Automotive employs the following processes to increase safety performance, including:
 
• Assessing risk on plant equipment;
• Identifying and eliminating hazards;
• Initiating weekly safety managers walk and conducting monthly safety trainings and meetings;
• Initiating a behavior-based safety process in 2003;
• Employing a Safety Champions Team with members from each department;
• Applying teamwork;
• Initiating monthly safety training and safety meetings;
• Focusing activities on reducing incidents during the summer time, called the Green Campaign, and
• Hosting a Safety and Environmental Children’s Day, promoting the importance of safety.
