HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (5/24/13) – Officers from law enforcement agencies across Kentucky were recognized Friday May 24th for completing the Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Academy of Police Supervision.
Hopkinsville Police Sergeant Kyle Spurlin was one of the graduates of the three week long APS program, also referred to as the Sergeant’s Academy, for newly promoted sergeants or officers who are on their agencies promotion list.
While in the course, students participate in classes focusing on the role of a supervisor, as well as leadership, resolving conflict, managing diversity, monitoring officer performance, professional image, legal issues for supervisors, ethics, interpersonal communication, decision making, problem solving, managing critical incidents, public speaking, emotional survival, budgeting, media relations and more.
