shooting incident 300MADISIONVILLE, Ky. (7/8/13) – At approximately 3:24 AM on Sunday morning, officers responded to a drive-by shooting incident at 217 Branch Street here in Madisonville.

On Monday morning, July 8, 2013, Madisonville Police Chief Wade Williams spoke with SurfKY News Reporters, revealing further information on the incident.

“We believe at this point that there was an altercation that happened at a party. This altercation bled over into a drive-by shooting involving people from Madisonville and people from Hopkinsville/Christian County,” stated Chief Williams. “ We are further investigating and trying to get the rundown leads so we can try to piece it together.”

Williams went on to state, “What is disturbing is the community is in an uproar that these landowners continually permit these large parties getting out of control that lead to shots being fired. Next, part of our future plan is to try and hold some of these property owners accountable for some things they are doing. They are making a small amount of rent for the party of the night… its spilling over into these large scale incidents and costing community public safety.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Jason McKnight with the Madisonville Police Department at (270)821-1720 or Crime Stoppers of Hopkins County at (270)825-1111.

“We don’t discount any information. Some small pieces of information, that people may think is irrelevant, just might help us tie this case up,” Chief Williams said.
