nat dance day 2013CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (7/11/13) – National Dance Day was created and introduced to the world by Nigel Lithgow, Executive Producer and a judge for the popular Fox Television program, “So You Think You Can Dance”.
In 2010, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, introduced a National Dance Day resolution to promote dance education and physical fitness in the United States. National Dance Day, always the last Saturday in July, is an annual event and a "grassroots initiative to encourage the nation, young and old, to move!"
2013 National Dance Day celebrations will be held across the country, including Hopkinsville, Kentucky – on Saturday, July 27th, at the Christian County Middle School Gym.
The day will begin with two, 1-hour Master Classes, taught by world dance professional and Tennessee Titans Cheerleader, Jessi Peralta:
10:00am for ages 7 – 11
11:00am for ages 12 and up
The cost is only $15.00 per person.
At noon, don’t miss an opportunity to see and meet members of the Tennessee Titans Cheerleaders, who will join locals for photos and autographs!
Then, beginning at 1:00pm, those involved will enjoy a Celebration of Dance with a variety of performances from local and area dancers. Featured will be Belly Dancing, Country Line Dance, Hip Hop, New Country, and Zumba Dance/Exercise. Admission to the afternoon Celebration of Dance is Free.
Tickets for the Master Classes are available in advance, only at Brooke Bailey Dance Addiction, 4449 Canton Pike, Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Tickets will also be available at the door.
The Christian County Middle School is located at 210 Glass Avenue, Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Doors will open at 9:00am.
This event is presented by Brooke Bailey Dance Addiction and the Hopkinsville Division of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with Christian County Public Schools.
