Ohio County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Weekend Home Invasion

investigation 300OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (7/23/13) – On Saturday, July 20, at about 11:30 p.m. an unknown white male wearing a “hoodie” sweatshirt allegedly broke into a home on Taylor Mine Rd. in McHenry. Authorities in Ohio County said the perpetrator allegedly broke out a rear window and entered the residence through the back door. It is believed the person took a knife from the kitchen area, went upstairs, and stole some pills. A person watching the residence while the owner was out of town heard something and thought it was the owner of the home returning early. The victim went to check and was attacked by the unknown burglar. The perpetrator allegedly swung the knife and punched the victim. The victim recovered a firearm from the house and fired at the suspect causing him to run and exit the house through the back door.

A K-9 unit with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office tracked the suspect to the front of the house where it is believed he left in a vehicle. A search of the area did not locate the suspect at that time.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please call Sheriff David Thompson or his office at 270-298-4444.
