Whitfield Announces $1.5 Million for Training Facility in Todd County

whitfield energy 300TODD COUNTY, Ky. (9/9/13) – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, today announced $1.5 million for the construction of an advanced manufacturing training facility in Todd County. The facility will ensure that a competitive, qualified workforce is available for high-demand, high-wage industrial prospects.

“This funding is great news for Todd County and the surrounding areas,” stated Whitfield. “The manufacturing industry has the potential to bring many good-paying jobs back to Kentucky and it is my hope that this training facility will serve as a magnet for future job creation in our community.”

According to the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), this funding is expected to create 110 new jobs and $3.5 million in private sector investment. The funding was secured through the Fiscal Year 2012 Disaster Relief Opportunity administered through the EDA, which Whitfield voted in favor of in the House of Representatives. The investment is intended to support a community’s long-term recovery, spur job creation, leverage private investment, and promote disaster resiliency.
