Single-Vehicle Collision on I-24

accident glass 300OAK GROVE, Ky. (10/17/13) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, non-injury collision that occurred on I-24, at approximately the 91 mile-marker, on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at 2:54 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Julie Richer, 26 of Frankfort, IL, was operating a 2009 Honda Civic westbound on I-24. As she was traveling westbound, she glanced away from the roadway to look at her directions. When she looked back, her vehicle was headed towards a sign.

She overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a bridge face and came to rest in the roadway. Both westbound lanes were closed for approximately 20 minutes.

Ms. Richer and her passenger, Kayden Morek, male, 9 months, were not injured. Ms. Richer was wearing a seatbelt and the infant was restrained in a child restraint device.

Det. Lloyd Ray investigated the collision. The Oak Grove Fire Department, Oak Grove EMS, and the State Highway Department assisted at the scene.
