HHS Marching Band Earns Distinguished Rating at Regional's, Advances to State Tournament

ccps band1 300CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (10/25/13) - On Saturday, October 26, the Hopkinsville High School Band of Marching Tigers will compete at the state tournament alongside 15 other marching bands in Kentucky. In addition, the band earned a distinguished classification at their regional competition this past weekend.

HHS band director, John Lovell, says the band received fifth place overall in the Region tournament and was one of five groups to earn the distinguished rating. According to Lovell, this is the first distinguished rating at a regional event in over ten years. Additionally, the band has competed in eight competitions this year and has finished in first place with the exception of one, where the Tigers placed second.

The band will compete Saturday afternoon in La Grange, KY. If the Tigers finish among the top eight, they will move on to compete that evening in the finals at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

Congratulations to the HHS band on their many accomplishments this year. Good luck at the state tournament!
