Boy Killed in Parking Lot Accident

breakingnews FATALACCIDENT 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (10/28/13) — A 16-year-old boy was killed, when a vehicle crashed into him as he was sitting on his skateboard in a parking lot around 3:47 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at 700 Country Club Lane in Hopkinsville.

According to a Hopkinsville Police report, Brandon L. Prewitt, 16, of Crofton, Ky., told police investigators that he was backing up in the parking lot after speaking with a friend. The report said Prewitt told police that while he was in reverse, he depressed the brakes but the vehicle would not stop.

Charley R. Cocker, Crofton, Ky., was sitting on a skateboard next to the driver's side of a parked vehicle owned by Brenda Cocker, 41, also of Crofton. Prewitt's vehicle crashed into Charley Cocker, then Brenda Cocker's vehicle, which was then pushed into a pedestrian, 16-year-old Kathryn Bishop, Clarksville, Tenn

Jennifer Prewitt, 38, also of Crofton, was a passenger in and the owner of the vehicle driven by Brandon Prewitt.

Bishop told police that Brandon Prewitt was driving a little fast in reverse, the report said.
