turkey trot 300HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (11/4/13) - The 12th annual Turkey Trot 5K (3.1 miles) will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28 in downtown Hopkinsville. This is a non-competitive, not timed event, which is fun for the entire family. Participants are welcome to run, walk, stroll, skate, or bicycle. Do as much or as little as you chose. Dogs on leashes are welcome. It's all about getting out, getting together, getting some exercise, having some fun and supporting a great cause.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Founders Square. All T-shirt sales and donations go to the Pennyrile Rail Trail Foundation in support of Hopkinsville rail trail construction. T-shirts are also available for purchase in advance beginning Nov. 15 at Bikes and Moore, Commerce Center and Polka Dot Pig.

Coffee and hot tea will be available before the race courtesy of the new Frothy Bean Coffee Shop and Pennyrile Area Hospitality Association. HWEA will be providing water and Craig Hodge Photography will be photographing the event.

The event is hosted by the Pennyrile Rail Trail Foundation and the city of Hopkinsville.
