Muhlenberg Job Corps Wins Big at HYS Conference

(2/4/14) - Horizons Youth Services (HYS), operator of the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center, held its annual directors conference Jan. 20-24, 2014, in Philadelphia, PA.

HYS currently operates six centers which include the Muhlenberg Job Corps (Greenville, KY), Carl D. Perkins Job Corps (Prestonsburg, KY), Charleston Job Corps (Charleston, WV), Sacramento Job Corps (Sacramento, CA), and subcontracts for the Cleveland Job Corps (Cleveland, Ohio) and Turner Job Corps (Albany, GA).

At this conference, all HYS Directors observed a year in review of the many trials, successes and best practices of each Center.

Annual awards were distributed and the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center was the proud recipient of seven awards.

The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center received first place in Safety & Environmental Health for having the highest Student Satisfaction Survey scores, Occupational Safety & Health, and overall assessment ratings.

Finance & Administration won first place for timeliness, accuracy and fiscal integrity of all financial operations. Finance & Administration also won first place in Energy Conservation being the center having the largest reduction in water, gas and electric consumption.

The Center came in 3rd place for being a High Performance Center in the Outcome Measurement System category, which is a statistical outcome measurement system comparing all 126 centers in the nation.

The Career Technical trades, Welding and Clinical Medical Assistant, were recipients of the “Top 10 Best Career Technical Training” award. The Heavy Truck Driving received 3rd Place in the “Highest Performance CTT10 Award” category.

The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center currently ranks 62 in the Nation out of 126 Job Corps Centers.

The Job Corps program serves more than 60,000 students each year in all 50 states.

It is the largest residential training program in the nation.

The Muhlenberg Center looks forward to 2014 becoming another successful year educating and training young adults.
