(2/7/14) – An important mission of the federally funded TRIO Talent Search program is to provide opportunities for middle and high school participants to visit college campuses to experience first-hand what the colleges offer.

Muhlenberg County High School Talent Search participants at Madisonville Community College hit the road on Dec, 4, for a University of Louisville campus visit.
 
Upon arrival, students were given meal vouchers for lunch in the Student Activities Center.

Following lunch, an admissions counselor led a thorough discussion about U of L and college in general. Participants were given a campus tour that included the library, fitness facilities, and “The Thinker” sculpture.

Each campus trip is a learning experience for the participants.

Discussion topics included specific admission requirements, major areas of study offered at each school, scholarships and financial aid offerings along with U of L’s newest programs and facilities.

The TRIO TS students are fortunate to have these opportunities to compare college campuses in preparation of selecting the best college fit for their future academic experience.

MCC program staff include Anna Leasure, Director; Wes Ausenbaugh, Casey Johnson, Corey Downey, Advisors; and Marcia Evans, Administrative Advisor. TRIO Talent Search Offices are located in the John H. Gray Building on the Madisonville Community College North Campus.
