Single Vehicle Accident in Oak Grove Caused by Icy Roads

Accident Injury 01 gold 300OAK GROVE, Ky. (3/4/14) — The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Interstate 24, at approximately the 90 mile-marker, at 1:41 p.m. March 4.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Christopher Finley, 24, of Fort Campbell, Ky., was operating a 2012 Ford Edge westbound on Interstate 24 in the left lane when his vehicle traveled over a patch of ice, which caused him to lose control.  The vehicle crossed both lanes of travel and exited the right shoulder of the roadway.  It struck an embankment and overturned.  The vehicle came to rest upright against the embankment.

Mr. Finley was not injured. His wife, Sarah Finley, 24, of Fort Campbell, Ky., was transported via ambulance to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital for treatment. Both Mr. and Mrs. Finley were wearing seatbelts. Their son, Jacob Finley, 3, was secured in a child safety seat and was not injured.

Trooper Michael Dennis investigated the collision. Oak Grove Fire and Rescue and Oak Grove EMS assisted at the scene.
