skin cancer awarenessHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (4/9/14) —May is Skin Cancer Awareness month.

April is the perfect month to put a skin cancer screeening on your calendar. Join Dr. Charles “Bill” Bosch and Jennie Stuart Medical Center as they team up to provide free skin cancer screenings Friday, May 9 and Friday, May 16.

The screenings will be performed by Dr. Bosch—a physician on staff at JSMC—at his office, Christian Ear, Nose and Throat, 1830 High St., Hopkinsville. He will be assisted by a nurse from JSMC.

JSMC urges women to get a skin cancer screening for Mother’s Day, men and teens, too.

Screenings are available 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, and 3-5 p.m. both days, and will be conducted by appointment through the JSMC Education department, (270) 887-6859.

Make the most of your screening visit with these tips from the Skin Cancer Foundation.

“May is skin cancer awareness month, and with the first days of summer approaching fast, we all need to be reminded of the importance of protecting our skin,” Beth McCraw, APRN, vice president, Nursing, JSMC, says. “We scheduled these screening days to help raise awareness that skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States.”

The skin cancer screenings are open to women, men and teens.

JSMC is a private, not-for-profit health organization that includes an acute-care medical center; free-standing outpatient surgery, medical imaging, laboratory, rehabilitation, occupational health, and home health services; and an integrated physician network.
