dawson springs ky-logoDAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (7/23/14) — The city of Dawson Springs held a regular schedule meeting to discuss old and new business Monday, July 21.

Dilapidated Housing and Code Enforcement update will be postponed for a couple more months.

“We need at least five people to serve on the board,” said Mayor Jenny Sewell. “We do not have the money at the time to bring in code enforcement and we will have to wait until we can get the funding when our taxes come in. I don’t want to start something we can’t finish.”

Sewell said she currently has two board members and is still looking for three more.

The Resolution 2014-08 was approved by the council on funds for painting water tanks and filters at plant replacement city water and sewer.

The Municipal Order 2014-05 was approved by the council appointing Dan Franklin to the Rosedale Cemetery Board. His six year term of office will expire on July 20, 2020.

A letter of retirement from police Capt. Craig Patterson was read. There will a retirement party held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31. Sewell appointed a council member Rhonda Mills for police officer interview board.

The 66th Annual BBQ and Street Fair will be from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday July 25.

“There will be 7,000 pounds of BBQ, that will be prepared and served,” said Sewell. “There will be new vendors, bouncers for the kids, games, gift giveaways and live music.”

The next council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, August 18.
