“Bokito”, who was handled for the last 6 years by Hop-kinsville Police Sergeant Todd DeArmond, has won several awards over his career to include first place in the 2013 K-9 Olympics for Narcotic Residential Search in which 124 dog teams from 10 different states and 4 different countries competed. “Diesel”, who was handled for the last 4 years by Hopkinsville Police Sergeant Tyler DeArmond, also has won several awards over his career to include second place in the 2013 K-9 Olympics for Building Search Patrol.
During their careers, both K-9’s were involved in 948 Narcotic Deployments, 338 Patrol Deployments, and 29 Apprehensions. Both K-9’s also assisted law enforcement in the seizure of 11 vehicles, 9 guns, and approximately $243,000.
Both of these K-9’s were the starting points for large scale Federal and Local cases, that are still pending, and they have assisted other agencies in surrounding counties and states when called upon.Whether locating a large amount of narcotics in a vehicle, tracking and apprehending a suspect, or searching for a missing child, these K-9’s remained an invaluable part of the department throughout their entire careers.
