CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (8/19/14) — The regular meeting of the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation last week came with a surprise donation of almost $3,900 from a local group of administrative professionals.

Nancy Bullard, representing the Hopkinsville Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals presented the check to Foundation President Jo Glover on Thursday, Aug. 14. The local group has actively supported HCC students for years with its scholarship programs.

Citing the dissolution of the local chapter by the national organization of IAAP, Bullard shared the history of the link between HCC and the local group, with many members having a connection to HCC or having received their education at the local college. The members of the local group wanted to continue to be able to support the college despite no longer having a formal organizational status.

Nancy Bullard said, “We decided that we would like to give what remains of our treasury to the Foundation for use in its textbook scholarship program. We figured if we added to the scholarship, then students would benefit for years to come from the generosity of the IAAP.” In accepting the gift, President Jo Glover thanked the IAAP for their gift and for thinking of the HCC Foundation. “Thanks to investments of groups like IAAP, our textbook scholarship continues to grow and benefit students. Over $31,500 will be given to students this year, and we could not continue the program without great community support like this.”
