footballBOWLING GREEN, Ky. (8/25/14) — Junior quarterback Chance Shanklin completed 10 of 15 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns as Warren Central defeated visiting Hopkinsville 54-16 in the Russell Rivals Bowl Friday night.

Warren Central thrived offensively, utilizing a balanced attack to claim the win.

Senior running back Colin Burnham also did his part for Warren Central, rushing 12 times for 107 yards and three touchdowns.

Warren Central racked up 387 yards of total offense on its way to the victory.

Holding its own in the key category, Hopkinsville rolled up 379 total yards of total offense. The Tigers, however, couldn't overcome more than 200 yards in penalties.

Warren Central scored first and never trailed. Hopkinsville's initial first half points came on a safety. The Tigers' only first-half touchdown came when quarterback Tyler Graham hooked up with Dallas Green on a five-yard scoring pass.

The Dragons controlled the opening half and took a 29-9 lead into halftime.

In the fourth quarter, Hopkinsville backup quarterback Jalen Johnson found teammate Rakeem Chambers on a 64-yard touchdown pass.

Warren Central opened at 1-0 and Hopkinsville 0-1.
