PADUCAH, Ky. (3/11/13) – From March 4th to March 8th, 2013, the United States Marshals Service, in partnership with the Paducah Police Department, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkinsville Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky State Probation and Parole, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms launched “Operation Western Swing”, a sex offender compliance initiative aimed at verifying 100% of the sex offender registry in McCracken and Christian Counties, KY.
 
This operation was conducted in furtherance of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, and focused on ensuring compliance with the sex offender registry and tracking down those offenders deemed non-compliant. The total number of sex offenders currently registered in McCracken County is 114 (with 2 of those offenders currently incarcerated and one listed as “non-resident”), and the total number of compliance checks conducted was 111. The total number of sex offenders currently residing in Christian County is 114 (with 12 of those offenders currently incarcerated), and the total number of compliance checks conducted was 102.
 
Below are some other pertinent statistics related to the operation:
 -Total number of Federal, State, and Local law enforcement personnel participating – 79
 -Total number of man-hours – 1416
 -Total number of sex offender arrests – 13
 -Total number of federal failure to register investigations pending – 3
 -Total number of new non-compliance investigations opened - 12
 -Total number of items seized – 59
 -Total number of firearms seized - 48
 
SIGNIFICANT ARRESTS
-William BECKER was arrested on charges of Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry.
-Rachelle DAILEY was arrested on charges of Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry.
-Bradley GILTZ was arrested on charges of Drug Trafficking.
-Gary SHARPE was arrested on charges of Failure to Comply with the Sex Offender Registry, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
-Daniel KOONTZ was arrested on an extraditable warrant out of Texas for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
-Fred LUTTRELL was arrested on charges on Felon in Possession of a Firearm and also Possession of Marijuana.
-Michael EDDY was arrested on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
-Bobby KYLES was arrested on charges of Failure to comply with the Sex Offender Registry.
-Michael MCGREGOR was arrested on charges of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registry.
