CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (4/26/13) –– Today at a ceremony attended by a large crowd of Hopkinsville area residents, HCC students, faculty, and staff, Hopkinsville Community College (HCC) celebrated the unveiling of its 47th annual Round Table Magazine. English Professor Brett Ralph dedicated this year’s edition to the late Frances G. Thomas and her HCC creative writing students. Frances started the magazine, which has become a long-standing college tradition.

The following contributors to the 2013 edition read from their work: Laura Galbreath, Lacy Patterson, Megan Lacy, Reese Dexter, Barry Williams, Jerry Foster, Trinity Powell, Michael McClure, Tori Bennett, Jack Fuston, Rose Nelson, and Heather L. Fryer.

The 2013 Round Table Literary Awards and Roger Selvidge Memorial Art Awards were judged by writer Lynnell Major Edwards, who read at HCC in February as part of the Hoptown Reading Series. “Those who would think that the only important voices come from the big cities would be well served to read the collection of poetry, prose and artwork in this most recent issue of The Round Table,” stated Edwards. “Here I found voices brave and strange, startling and revelatory; writing that woke me from the stupor my daily life can bring; images that made me look and see again. I was honored to share some of my work with the community this winter as part of the Hoptown Reading Series and now am honored to be trusted to read the imaginative work of this community. Many congratulations to all whose work saw publication in this issue and to the many more who scribble and etch, who call themselves artist, and who enrich us all with the striving.”
