CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (11/30/11) – SurfKY News has just received information regarding a single-vehicle fatality in Christian County.
According to Christian County officials, a truck was traveling on the 1682 earlier this morning when it hit a patch of black ice on a bridge. The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, busted through a roadside guardrail, and ran down an embankment.
At this time no names have been released. However, officials have stated that a male and a female were in the truck, with the male driving. The female was pronounced dead at the scene and the male was transported by medical personnel.
SurfKY News urges all local drivers throughout Western Kentucky to take great care when driving this time of year. The weather can be very unstable and black ice can form quickly, particularly on bridges and near water sources. Early mornings and late evenings are the most at-risk times for black ice.
