hend county school 300HENDERSON, Ky. (4/16/13) – On Thursday, April 11, 17 choir students from Henderson County High School, North Middle School, and South Middle School participated in the Kentucky Music Educators Association Choral Festival at Madisonville Community College, earning high marks for their performances.

“I have never been more proud of my students, and it is evident that they are proud of themselves,” said Lauren Taylor, North Middle School Choir Director. “It takes incredible discipline and focus to prepare music at such a rigorous level. It also takes a great deal of courage to perform for judges and open oneself up to criticism. Once again, I stand amazed at the wonderful things kids can do if only given the chance.”

Henderson County High School Colonel Choir and Chamber Choir, both ensembles under the direction of Felicia Belcher, received distinguished ratings overall with distinguished ratings in sight-reading.
 
The South Middle School seventh and eighth grade choir, under the direction of Randall Wilkerson, received a proficient rating overall.
 
The North Middle School seventh grade choir, under the direction of Lauren Taylor, received a proficient rating overall with a distinguished rating in sight-reading. The North Middle School 8th grade choir received a distinguished rating overall with a distinguished rating in sight-reading.
