breakingnews FATALACCIDENT 300OAK GROVE, KY (12/16/11) – On Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at approximately 8:05 AM, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigated a 3-vehicle, single fatality collision on I-24 at approximately the 87 mile-marker.

An SUV was traveling westbound on I-24.  Tony E. Pritchard, age 51 of Vincennes, IN, was operating a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer eastbound on I-24.  Pritchard was hauling metal.  Loriston M. Lovelady, age 85 of Hopkinsville, KY, was operating a 1995 Nissan pickup truck eastbound on I-24 traveling behind Pritchard’s vehicle.

An unnamed driver of a SUV lost control of the vehicle and it traveled through the median and continued into the eastbound lanes of travel.  The SUV struck the rear tires on Pritchard’s semi-trailer causing the SUV to spin around and strike the left, rear of Lovelady’s vehicle.

The driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle upon impact with Pritchard’s semi-trailer. 

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes.  Pritchard and Lovelady were not injured. 

The driver of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt.  Pritchard and Lovelady were wearing seatbelts.

The collision investigation is continuing by Trooper Michael Dennis.  The Oak Grove Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Department, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Christian County Fire/Rescue, Christian County EMS, the State Highway Department, and the Christian County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
