OWENSBORO, KY (2/29/12) – On February 29, 2012, at 09:13 A.M., the Owensboro Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Glover H. Cary Bridge in Downtown Owensboro.
At 09:16 A.M., another caller reported that a female had jumped from the bridge into the Ohio River. Responding officers arrived and located the female in the water near the middle of the river. Officers were able to maintain a visual on the female subject until members from the Owensboro Fire Department, utilizing the OFD Fire-Rescue boat, were able to arrive and pull the female from the water.
Owensboro Fire Department officials began providing care while the female was transported on the Fire-Rescue boat to the English Park boat ramp. The female was then transported by Yellow Ambulance to Owensboro Medical Health System where she is in stable condition at this time.
