OWENSBORO, KY (5/4/12) - According to a press release from the Owensboro Police Department, the community should be on the lookout for a scam aimed at college students.
The scam has been posted on college job boards and sent in emails requesting students to apply for a part-time job as a Personal Assistant/Errand-Runner.
Once people apply, the “employer” asks the new “employee” to purchase merchandise and ship it to a PO Box under the pretext of the employer being out of the country on business and needing these items. The employer is also requesting personal information from the employee.
This is another example of possible scams that are ever-present in or community. The Owensboro Police Department urges everyone to stay alert and notify authorities if you believe a scam has occurred.
