OWENSBORO, KY (6/4/12) - At 10:58 P.M. on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012, patrol officers with the Owensboro Police Department responded to a shooting call at 634 Chuck Gray Court.
Once officers arrived on-scene, they discovered Scotty M. Miller of Owensboro, suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. Miller was immediately transported by ambulance to O.M.H.S. where he was then transferred to Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was listed in serious condition.
Detectives were called to the scene and the investigation led to a location in Masonville. A search warrant was obtained for the premises located at 6510 Lilac Court. Due to the violent nature of the offense, the Owensboro Police Department Emergency Response Team, Hazardous Device Unit and Crisis Negotiations Unit were activated at 06:40 A.M. on June 4th, to serve the search warrant.
Multiple attempts were made in an effort to make contact with Michael Carter, the subject believed to be inside the residence. At 9:15 A.M., after no communication had been established, ERT officers broke a window of the residence and were able to make contact with the subject inside. Carter immediately came outside where he was detained and transported to OPD for further investigation.
The Owensboro Police Department was assisted by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police.
The subject was charged with the following crimes and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center:
Assault 1st Degree- Class B Felony
Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Class D Felony
2 Counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon- Class D Felony
Tampering with Physical Evidence- Class D Felony
